ASQMS sets the standard and manages the certification scheme. It also authorizes qualified certification bodies, which are responsible for conducting the certification for organizations. Through this collaboration, ASQMS and certification bodies work together to ensure software quality and consistency within the automotive ecosystem, improving the quality level for the entire industry. The ASQMS certification bodies carry out, but are not limited to the following:
a) Audit. The certification bodies are the entities responsible for conducting ASQMS audits, they are to ensure that the quality management system of the audited organization meets the ASQMS standard requirements;
b) Issuance of certificates. Based on the results of the audit, the certification body has the right to decide whether to issue the ASQMS certificate. A certificate is a formal confirmation of the audited organization's compliance with the ASQMS standard;
c) Maintaining the consistency of the standard. Certification bodies are responsible for ensuring that their audit and certification processes meet the requirements of the ASQMS standard in order to maintain the consistency and credibility of the standard.
ASQMS's rules and requirements for certification bodies can be found in the "Automotive Software Quality Management System Certification Scheme and Requirements for Certification Bodies".
